Warehouse Caretaker - Night Shift

Shift: Sunday – Thursday 10:00 pm   – 6:30 AM
During Training: days or evenings shifts depends on availability (Approx. 6-8 shifts)
Status:  Regular Full-time

The North West Company (TNWC) is looking to fill a position at our Winnipeg Logistics Service Centre (WLSC). Your role as the warehouse caretaker involves maintaining the integrity of WLSC through regular cleaning and maintenance to ensure all employees are provided with a clean working environment with contents of infrastructure in working order.

Your Role
  • Collect plastic wrap, cardboard, and waste materials from warehouse drop points and ensure effective removal.
  • Collect recycling from offices in warehouse and front main.
  • Operate motorized cleaning equipment.
  • Ensure aisles are clean and debris is removed.
  • Perform general housekeeping duties inside and outside the warehouse. This would include, but limited to: parking lot cleaning, refuse removal from landscaping, water and tend to flowers, shrubs and beds. Washroom sanitation when required.
  • Assist with Supervisor or Maintenance Technician on Preventative Maintenance duties as required.
  • Snow removal assistance as needed for entrance ways.
  • Stock and removal of water jugs to all warehouse offices, common spaces and meeting rooms.
  • Event setup tasks as assigned by supervisor and or manager.
  • Graffiti removal.
  • Applying slip protection to exterior walkways.
  • Cleans light fixtures as required.
  • Wiping racks and dusting of equipment within warehouse.
  • Clean and disinfect water fountains, refrigerators, and microwaves.
  • Completes daily, weekly and monthly checklists on building equipment maintenance procedures.
  • Responds to emergency maintenance requests as required.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned. Undertaking other duties appropriate to the level and character of work as instructed by the Supervisor or Maintenance Manager
 Desired Skills & Experience
  • Ability to lift 75lbs unassisted and periodically overhead.
  • Understand the importance of safety in the workplace / follow all health and safety procedures and policies.
  • Ability to effectively multi-task and prioritize;
  • Must work well with others, have a willingness to learn, and maintain positive relationships;
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, able to lead, have clear communication skills; and
  • Must be able to work in inclement weather.
Location: Winnipeg Logistics Services Centre, 100 Murray Park Road, Winnipeg, MB.
Reporting to: Department Manager, Dock Operations.
