Motorsports Sales Manager

In your role as the Motorsports Sales Manager for The North West Company (NWC), you will achieve sales, inventory turns, and gross profit targets in the Motorsports department. You will work closely with our store network to deliver excellent customer service, grow market share targets, and build consumer loyalty.

The North West Company is the largest Honda ATV Dealer, largest Yamaha dealer, and the largest Ski-doo retailer in Canada. We serve customers across the country through our 130 Northern Stores as well as stand-alone dealer stores. The Motorsports team also supports our Alaska stores and the expansion of our dealer network in that state. The Sales Manager role at NWC is accountable for all Major Unit purchasing and planning for all stores in our network.

Your Role:
  • Manage procurement of all Major Unit product, in excess of 4000 units;
  • Lead the Motorsports Sales team to deliver excellent service;
  • Lead the Motorsports Sales team in planning and executing critical winter road and sealift shipping;
  • Create Promotions aligned with OEM offering that are tailored to the unique environment of Northern Canada;
  • Manage all product flow to our store network;
  • Maintain and create department documentation to support the business; and,
  • Maintain strong communication with Suppliers.
 
Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Experience with Snowmobiles, ATVs, Boats and Outboards;
  • Experience with forward inventory planning and budgeting;
  • Ability to analyze sales trend data to forecast product needs for upcoming seasons;
  • Exceptional customer service skills to help train and lead the team to help Stores sell product and answer customer questions;
  • Knowledge of communities and customers where The North West Company operates;
  • Strong collaboration skills to develop work in combination with other internal departments;
  • Good working knowledge of Excel and ability to learn new systems in the Motorsports business;
  • Strong time management and verbal and written skills;
  • Must be able to travel within Canada and US.
 
If you are currently on a store management team, you would bring the following strengths to this position:
  • Strong knowledge of our customers
  • Experience in the end to end sales process of Motorsports products
  • Strong working relationships with key NWC support departments
  • Knowledge of our store structure and sales cycles
  • Experience with sales and marketing opportunities in Northern Canada
