Inventory Control Accountant

Your Role:
  • Reconcile and balance store monthly stock ledger transactions to the general ledger for sales, end of period stock levels, and cost of goods sold;
  • Calculate, analyze, and distribute store inventory results on a quarterly, semi-annual, and annual basis, including reviewing count results for accuracy;
  • Understand the inventory counting process and assist stores when necessary, providing creative solutions to every day inventory related issues;
  • Prepare store and warehouse reconciliations on a monthly basis;
  • Review food and general merchandise central receiving documents to ensure stores are complying with central receiving policies and action any discrepancies;
  • Analyze and adjust preliminary and stock ledger reports and other key month end processes to ensure proper month end financial reporting;
  • Prepare correction adjustments for both food and general merchandise when necessary;
  • Communicate with store(s) teams and District Sales Operations teams regarding inventory counts, receiving, or any other inventory related processes; and
  • Adhoc projects that help improve the efficiency and level of support provided by the Inventory Control department.


Desired Skills & Experience:
  • Bachelor of Business (Accounting major) or Diploma (Accounting); combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Two (2) or more years of accounting experience in a supervisory or team-lead role.
  • Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve a wide range of inventory-related issues faced by retail stores.
  • Retail experience or other inventory related experience is an asset.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel, and an aptitude for technology and data systems.
