Managing Director, Healthy Horizons

In your role as Managing Director, Healthy Horizons with The North West Company (NWC), you will be responsible for the foundation’s strategic planning and all foundation administration activities including fundraising coordination, marketing, grant selection, budgeting, board meeting reporting and maintaining database. You will also serve as an advisor to the Healthy Horizons Board of Directors.

Your Role:
  • Lead and coordinate Fundraising and Promotion Committee meetings on a bi-weekly basis to develop recommendations on communications and fundraising plans;
  • Develop strategies to increase awareness of the foundation, including processes for ensuring foundation recognition from grant recipients;
  • Develop press releases, social media posts and newsletter stories to share operations activities, successful grant recipients, community impact, etc;
  • Prepare external communications material on grant deadlines and process;
  • Work with Grant Selection Committee to review and reach recommendations for proposals at each intake;
  • Develop strategies to overcome barriers for potential grant applicants;
  • Develop strategies on all fundraising activities for the foundation;
  • Work with the Marketing and Fundraising committee to develop and carry out fundraising plans;  
  • Co-lead the annual North West employee giving campaigns in partnership with the United Way;
  • Develop partnerships with other foundations and potential business partners;
  • The position will require the candidate to work collaboratively with others and have skills in conflict management.

Desired Skills & Experience
 
  • A University degree and/or fundraising certification will be considered and asset;
  • Deep understanding of fundraising techniques, preferably with a record of success in a senior; leadership role within a philanthropic organization;
  • Experience working with Indigenous peoples/communities is an asset;
  • Experience in leading and implementing fundraising activities;
  • Exceptional communication skills as the Ambassador for the foundation;
  • Analytical, organizational and management abilities combined with sound business acumen;
  • A talent for innovation and creativity with an ability to implement strategy; and,
  • Ability to collaborate with and lead cross-functional committees.
