Senior Manager - Data Analytics

The North West Company (NWC) is seeking a strategic and results-oriented Senior Manager of Data Analytics to join our Strategy, Planning, and Analytics department. This cross-functional role is crucial for leveraging data to provide actionable insights, drive informed decision-making, and enhance business strategies across all NWC Business Units. The ideal candidate will lead a team of skilled analysts in developing reporting, dashboard, and analytical solutions, providing data-driven recommendations to guide organizational decisions and drive change.

Your Role:  
  1. Business Analytics Development :
  • Develop and implement a Data-Insights-Action-Outcome framework for data analytics.
  • Enhance decision-making speed and accuracy by leveraging technology and data governance.
  • Collaborate with IT and data engineering teams to ensure data integrity and availability.
 
  1. Cross-Functional Collaboration :
  • Define metrics and create performance reporting and dashboards in collaboration with NWC executives.
  • Develop KPIs and metrics for business management and strategic initiatives.
  • Analyze complex business problems and develop data-driven insights for solutions.
 
  1. Team Leadership :
  • Lead a team of data professionals to deliver impactful business insights.
  • Mentor and manage the analytics team, fostering a culture of continuous learning.
  • Oversee training, support, and troubleshooting for the analytics environment.
 
  1. Dashboard and Report Development :
  • Develop and maintain dashboards, reports, and visualizations to provide actionable insights.
  • Present data findings clearly to non-technical stakeholders, driving data-driven decisions.
  • Standardize and monitor KPIs, communicating results regularly.
 
  1. Predictive and Prescriptive Analytics:
  • Develop models to enhance operational outcomes, including supply chain and pricing optimization.
  • Create leading indicators for various business areas to drive performance improvements.
 
  1. Innovative Analysis and Reporting :
  • Engage with leadership on innovative analysis approaches and data implications.
  • Design and implement reports to identify trends and support strategic goals.
  • Present meaningful results and insights to senior leadership.

Desired Skills & Experience:     
                     
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business, economics, engineering, math, statistics, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Master’s Degree in Business Analytics, Finance, or MBA preferred.
  • 3+ years of retail industry experience preferred.
  • 5+ years of proven leadership and team supervision.
  • Success in executing complex strategic projects focused on data analytics.
  • Project management experience.
  • Significant experience with data analytics and statistics.
  • Advanced MS Office skills.
  • Expertise in SQL, data science, and visualization tools (Alteryx, Tableau, Power BI, Oracle Analytics) and programming languages (Python).
  • Proficiency in delivering presentations and problem-solving.
  • Less than 30 days of travel per year.
