Manager, Data Management Systems

In your role as Manager, Data Management Systems at The North West Company (NWC), you will be responsible for the integrity of organizational data related to merchandise, promotions, and other business driven informational needs. As the subject matter expert for NWC data management systems, this role seeks enhancements to tools and systems to best support changing business needs through engagement with appropriate stakeholders. In leading a team of data specialists, this role oversees business driven data collection and implementation of processes, and related training programs.

Your Role:  
  • Lead a multifaceted team overseeing the collection, entry, and maintenance of merchandise and promotional based data within NWC data systems.
  • Enforce data standards through robust training programs, reference materials, and standard operating procedures for both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Develop and uphold data integrity oversight programs through the use of data auditing techniques and remediation.
  • Coordinate with business partners to support successful implementation, continuance, and improvement of ongoing data driven processes.
  • Act in advisory and intermediary role amongst business stakeholders and technical partners as to the development or enhancement of systems and tools in response to changing needs or efficiency opportunities.
  • Oversee the Merchandising Store Connect service through store-driven practices and continued enhancement.
  • Maintain system knowledge through continuous learning and development to support role as subject matter expert of NWC data systems.
  • Mentor and develop the talent of team members in support of internal succession planning.
Desired Skills & Experience:    
  • University degree in Commerce, Finance and/or Marketing.
  • 3-5 years team management or leadership experience.
  • 3-5 years data management, category management, and/or analytical experience (preference to retail).
  • Expert Proficiency in Microsoft Office with specific emphasis on Excel.
  • Proficiency with relational databases and structured query language (SQL).
  • Demonstrated capability to lead an expansive team and prioritize work efforts within a fast paced work environment.
  • Proven capacity to engage with varying stakeholder groups and deliver accountable results.
  • Established interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Exceptional organizational, prioritization, and time management skills.
  • Aptitude to quickly learn new concepts, systems and industry best practices and apply these learnings to the continued development of the team/support of the business.
  • Capacity to analyze specific details and/or components of a problem without losing perspective of the bigger picture and/or project goals.
  • Strong understanding of process mapping or related working experience.
