Warehouse Personnel - General Merchandise (Day Shift)

Status: Casual Term (Up to 8 Months) Shifts: Sunday - Thursday (6:00am – 2:30pm) Training:Monday – Friday (6:00am – 2:30pm) Two (2) weeks only
In your role as General Warehouse Person – General Merchandise, Days, at The North West Company (NWC), you’re an integral part of our warehouse operations and activities. Your work ensures an increase in efficiency and profitability to increase satisfaction amongst our customers.
Your Role:
Detail receive PO’s into Warehouse 7 and Warehouse 5;
Prepare and tag orders for distribution to stores;
Pick in the various zones for daily Basics allocations;
Organize freight inside the warehouse and outside in the yard;
Deliver and stage warehouse 5 & 7 products in designated areas;
Manifest and stage orders as required;
Ability to identify problem PO’s and work with supervisor to correct;
Sorting of Giant Tiger fashion freight by store;
Building, wrapping and assisting in the sorting / bringing down of outbound pallets;
Verifying counts on the pallets;
Maintain a safe and clean work area; and,
Other duties as assigned.
Desired Skills & Experience:
Previous shipping/receiving experience would be considered an asset;
Forklift, high stacker, and electric pallet jack experience an asset but not required;
Experience in a food or general merchandise warehouse environment an asset;
Able to work quickly, accurately, and efficiently to meet production requirements;
Able to meet the physical demands of the job, including standing and lifting for duration of shift;
Ability to lift between 20 to 70 pounds unassisted on a regular basis;
Ability to operate an RF hand held computer efficiently and accurately;
Ability to read and comprehend packing slips;
Must possess a high attention to detail;
Strong ability to prioritize tasks;
Ability to operate and pull a manual pump truck;
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
